In 2012, the Gulbenkian Orchestra celebrated its 50th anniversary. This event, marked with great pomp by the Foundation that hosts it, does not change the routine of the musicians and conductors in any way. Week after week, there is a new programme to rehearse, there are two public performances to give, there are stages to set up.
At the end of each week, the conductor changes, as do the soloists and scores. In between, the instruments are tuned and the body is stretched to relieve the strain of the job.

PRODUCTION
Lightheartedness
“Intervalo” is aware that (even with 65 minutes) it does not have time to talk about everything and so it does not waste time explaining, it prefers to show and share, clean and intelligent work that leaves you wanting to know more and learn more. We hope to see it on other screens outside the Gulbenkian.
Jorge Mourinha, PUBLIC
Tiago Figueiredo's film is a gift for those who know, love and appreciate the Gulbenkian Orchestra. For others, the passion may begin with this 'Interval'
Rui Lagartinho, RTP Arts
The look is deeply cinematic, the invisibility achieved during filming contrasting with the knowledge gained in choosing the moments to keep in the final edit. And that is where the film actually takes shape. Tiago Figueiredo shows us an orchestra with people inside.
