Mozart Pavilion
The Pousos Artistic and Musical Society is participating in the PARTIS programme for the second time. In the first edition, with the Opera in Prison project, Mozart's Don Giovanni was staged, a work recreated by inmates of the Leiria Prison Establishment – Young People (EPLJ). This time, for 36 months, in the same prison establishment, the objectives are more ambitious, since the participants are no longer just the inmates. Now the recipients/participants also include EPLJ technicians, their families and friends. The proportion is 40 inmates and 60 non-inmates. The opera to be recreated is also by Mozart, Cosí Fan Tutte, and all the staging, including sets and costumes, is done by the participants. In addition to creating the show, the Mozart Pavilion includes the restoration of one of the many dilapidated pavilions of the old farm where the EPLJ is located. It is intended to be a performing arts center, run by inmates, open to the community outside the walls, operating beyond the 36 months of PARTIS support.
